Bolton were competitive in the opening exchanges against Arsenal, but just before the half hour the Gunners struck when Steinson lost the ball on the edge of his area, Cesc Fabregas picked up possession and had a neat one-two with Eduardo and the returning captain scored.

Bolton piled on the pressure after the break, but 13 minutes from time the Trotters were caught out on the counter-attack and Eduardo crossed for Fran Merida to score his first ever goal in the Premier League.
