Arsenal are in the title race

Arsene Wenger's men are now the closest challengers to Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea, five points behind but with a match in hand, following their 4-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United's defeat at Stamford Bridge.

When domestic action resumes following the international break, all eyes will turn to their showdown with the Blues at the Emirates Stadium on 29th November.

Arsenal have recovered strongly from their successive defeats by both Manchester clubs, embarking upon an unbeaten run of 13 matches in all competitions and now having scored 36 goals in 11 league matches.

Steven Gerrard's penalty secured a draw for Liverpool.

An entertaining first half, with no real chance created. Rooney managed to turn Carvalho only to put his shot over the bar and Anelka forced a save from Edwin Van der Saar. Rooney began to take control of the second half narrowly flashing a shot wide and having a curling shot saved by Cech. Darren Fletcher wins the ball from Ashley Cole fairly but Martin Atkinson awards a free kick to Chelsea . Lampard whips in a ball which John Terry galnces in to the net. Drogba is in an offside position and may be interfering with play. The United players are furious and Rooney gets booked for protesting.
